ComTac VIII — Next Generation
The latest evolution of the ComTac platform. Soundscape automatic audio optimization, redesigned low-profile earcups with increased interior volume for dual hearing protection, 22 dB NRR with foam cushions / 23 dB NRR with gel cushions (helmet 22 dB either), and a telescope boom microphone rated IP68 (3M: 6 m / 30 min).
Soundscape Technology
Automatic Audio Optimization — Soundscape continuously analyzes the acoustic environment and adjusts headset settings in real time to promote speech intelligibility in noise. No manual profile switching required.
Mission Audio Profiles (MAP) — Five selectable ambient listening modes with gain settings optimized for specific environments: dismounted patrol, vehicle interior, rotary-wing aircraft, CQB/structure, and range training.
Increased Voice Prompt Volume — Higher voice prompt levels ensure status notifications are heard even in sustained high-noise conditions.
Reduced Radio Static — Signal processing minimizes hiss and static between radio transmissions for reduced listener fatigue.
Redesigned Hardware
Updated Earcup — Low-profile design provides maximum attenuation (23 dB NRR) with increased interior volume for comfortable dual hearing protection with earplugs.
Low-Profile Headband — Redesigned to reduce pressure hot spots during extended wear. Easily converts to helmet-mounted configuration with ARC adapters (sold separately).
IP68 Telescope Boom Mic — Waterproof to 3m for 30 minutes. Reversible left/right without relocating the assembly. Frequency response: 200 Hz – 7 kHz. Dynamic noise-canceling element, ~150 Ω impedance.
Sealed Battery Compartment — Single-sided, tool-free access. Kevlar-spun downlead cable (~500 mm).
Operating Specifications
Temperature Range — -40°F to 131°F (-40°C to 55°C) operational.
Lightweight — 339 g (11.95 oz) with batteries (single comm model).
Standards Compliance — MIL-STD-810G durability, ANSI S3.19-1974 hearing protection.

DISCO32 Constant Able PTT — Full ComTac Compatibility
The DISCO32 Constant Able series PTTs are fully compatible with PELTOR ComTac headsets. The ComTac’s standard NATO U-174 connector plugs directly into any Constant Able PTT — no adapters, no downleads. The Constant Able’s auto-switching circuit detects your headset’s dynamic microphone and adjusts impedance automatically — no manual configuration required.
This gives ComTac operators single-channel push-to-talk capability across a wide range of conventional and LMR radios: Motorola APX/XTS, Kenwood, Hytera, Harris/L3Harris, Icom, Baofeng, and more. If your radio isn’t covered by the FL4063 series, the Constant Able fills the gap.
