NIJ IIIA ballistic helmet rated for higher-velocity 9mm threats. Hybrid composite shell (carbon, unidirectional polyethylene, woven aramid) stops 9mm 124gr FMJ at 1,400 ft/s with backface deformation under 1.0 inch. Slightly thicker shell than the SF trades 0.28 lbs for a 205 ft/s gain in muzzle velocity protection.
