ComTac V Series
3M PELTOR ComTac V
Tactical Communication Headset
Level-dependent hearing protection with clear two-way radio communication, environmental listening, and enhanced RF/EMI immunity for modern software-defined radios. Available in single and dual comm configurations.
Platform Overview
🔊Environmental Listening — Omni-directional microphones with high-fidelity speakers reproduce ambient sounds naturally while instantly suppressing hazardous impulse noise up to 168 dB peak SPL (ANSI S12.42-2010).
🎤MT33 Boom Microphone — 18 dB noise cancellation (3× improvement over legacy MT31), water-resistant dynamic element for clear radio transmissions in extreme noise and wind.
📡RF/EMI Shielding — Enhanced cable and circuit shielding ensures immunity to interference from multi-channel software-defined radios (PRC-163, PRC-152A, AN/PRC-148) and encrypted waveforms.
🔌NATO Wiring (U-174) — Direct connection to push-to-talk adapters. Single comm (-47) or dual comm (-19) downlead configurations for one or two radio nets.
Audio Customization Features
⚖️Balance Mode — Adjust environmental listening volume between left and right speakers to prioritize directional audio or personal preference.
⏱️Release Time — Configurable limiter release; default optimized for combat, extended settings for indoor firearms training.
🔉Earplug Mode (Volume Boost) — Increases ambient and radio audio by approximately 6 dB for use with dual hearing protection (earplugs under earcups).
🎚️Equalizer Function — Frequency response presets to reduce low-frequency steady-state noise from vehicles, aircraft, and generators, improving signal-to-noise ratio inside the earcup.
Design & Durability
🪖Foldable Headband — Modern rubberized band removes easily for ARC adapter conversion (sold separately). Resistant to heavy maritime environments.
🛡️Rugged Construction — Tested to ANSI S3.19-1974 for hearing protection. Built for sustained field operations in rain, dust, and extreme temperatures.
⚡150-Hour Battery Life — 2× AA batteries. Extended operation without frequent field changes.

DISCO32 Constant Able PTT — Full ComTac Compatibility
The DISCO32 Constant Able series PTTs are fully compatible with PELTOR ComTac headsets. The ComTac’s standard NATO U-174 connector plugs directly into any Constant Able PTT — no adapters, no downleads. The Constant Able’s auto-switching circuit detects your headset’s dynamic microphone and adjusts impedance automatically — no manual configuration required.
This gives ComTac operators single-channel push-to-talk capability across a wide range of conventional and LMR radios: Motorola APX/XTS, Kenwood, Hytera, Harris/L3Harris, Icom, Baofeng, and more. If your radio isn’t covered by the FL4063 series, the Constant Able fills the gap.
